OCTOBER 20, USA / DUBLIN: Fly transatlantic overnight to Dublin Ireland. Dinner is served and in-flight entertainment is provided.
OCTOBER 21, ARRIVE IN DUBLIN / KILKENNY: Welcome to Ireland. After clearing customs, you will be met by your professional driver/guide in the arrivals hall, and shortly afterwards, begin your transfer south to Kilkenny, undoubtedly Ireland’s loveliest inland city. After some time to rest, you have time to explore on your own. In medieval times this was a prosperous trading center and the narrow streets still follow ancient routes. This afternoon you may choose an optional visit to Kilkenny Castle, built in the 13th century and home to the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years. Tonight you are free to explore some of Kilkenny’s many fine dining options and lively pubs.
OCTOBER 22, KILKENNY / BLARNEY / KILLARNEY: Departing Kilkenny, you travel south towards Killarney via the small town of Cashel where you will stop to visit the unforgettable Rock of Cashel. The dramatic limestone rock crowned with secular and religious buildings dominates the flat countryside for miles around. Continue towards County Cork for a visit
to Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. There is time to stop at Blarney Woollen Mills to shop before continuing on to bustling Killarney. The town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs and open, cheerful atmosphere, full of what the Irish call “craic!” – Gaelic for fun. Enjoy dinner in your hotel. (B/D)
OCTOBER 23, DINGLE PENINSULA EXCURSION: Today after breakfast, you head out to the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. This peninsula is a Gaeltacht, a unique area where the Irish language is preserved. There is time to explore the town of Dingle, a colorful fishing port. Later, return to Killarney for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
OCTOBER 24, KILLARNEY / DUBLIN: You depart from Killarney early this morning, and travel towards Dublin, arriving early this afternoon. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a panoramic city tour, introducing Dublin’s grand architectural treasures, beautiful Georgian squares and history stretching back more than 1,000 years. The remainder of your afternoon is free. This evening, experience an enchanting evening of Irish folklore and storytelling while enjoying a candlelit traditional Irish dinner in The Brazen Head, Dublin's oldest Pub. (B/D)
OCTOBER 25, DUBLIN – 1916 RISING: After breakfast, head out of Dublin to visit the Boyne Valley Visitor Centre where you will learn about the 5,000-year-old burial tombs of Newgrange and Knowth. Tour one of them to see how primitive people managed to align huge boulders precisely with the movements of the sun. Afterwards, visit Glasnevin Cemetery. Your visit will give you a valuable insight into this unique Victorian burial place and into the final resting place of the men and women who have helped shape Ireland’s past and present. Later, return to your hotel. The remainder of your evening is free. (B)
OCTOBER 26, GAME OF THRONES: After breakfast, depart from Dublin and head north to experience the real Westeros with a visit to the Winterfell Castle movie set at Castle Ward a beautiful 1000 acre sprawling demesne used for filming the epic adaption of George RR Martins Game of Thrones novels. Your tour guide will show you around Winterfell Castle & Demesne sharing fascinating stories about how the film sets where created onsite and some insider gossip about what the cast got up to behind-the-scenes.
