DAY 1 Depart Boston for Naples

DAY 2 ARRIVE IN Naples, Italy: Welcome to Italy! After clearing customs in Naples, proceed to the arrivals area where you will meet with your tour manager. Enjoy a city tour. We travel to visit one of the most important churches in southern Italy, the impressive Naples Cathedral (Duomo di San Gennaro). The cathedral was commissioned in the 13th century by King Charles I of Anjou and completed in the 14th century under Robert of Anjou, and is dedicated to the city's patron saint, St. Januarius. The duomo sits above fascinating catacombs containing archaeological remains of ancient Greek, Roman, and early Christian civilizations. Stop for lunch on your own and check into your hotel. The remainder of the evening is free to enjoy

DAY 3 NAPLES / POMPEII: After breakfast, depart and head to Pompeii where you enjoy a guided tour: we travel back to 79 AD to the city of Pompeii. A city perfectly preserved by the ash that rained down from Mt. Vesuvius, you’ll see the tragic fossils of the people attempting to escape with their children and dogs. And the streets, homes and stores that are intact. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in a local pizza restaurant. Later, travel to the ruins at Herculaneum. Like Pompeii, Herculaneum was destroyed by the great volcano that looms up behind the town. Later, travel to Sorrento where the remainder of your day and evening are free and enjoy a stroll to an evening welcome dinner at Ristorante Tasso(B/L/D)

DAY 4 AMALFI COAST BY BOAT: Enjoy breakfast before departing on an excursion by boat along the Amalfi Coast. This boat excursion is an exclusive and peaceful way to experience the Amalfi coast. Enjoy stops to visit Positano, Praiano and Conca dei Marini. Later, return to Sorrento by coach. Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant. (B/D)

DAY 5 EXCURSION TO AMALFI: After breakfast depart for Amalfi. Enjoy panoramic views of the enchanting towns along the scenic Amalfi Coast. Stop at Positano terrace for the stunning view of the town. Then, follow the legendary road overlooking the Mediterranean, to reach the coastal town of Amalfi. DAY 6 SORRENTO / ROME: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing from Sorrento and making your way to Rome. On arrival in Rome, enjoy a brief panoramic city tour before checking in to your hotel. The remainder of your afternoon is free to explore. This evening enjoy dinner in a local restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. (B/D)

DAY 7 VATICAN MUSEUMS & SISTINE CHAPEL: This morning, it’s a 10-minute drive to another country, the Vatican City! Meet with your expert local guide and begin your tour of the Vatican Museums, a treasure trove of ancient Greek sculptures, medieval tapestries and Renaissance paintings. Your visit culminates in the Sistine Chapel, the room where the Pope is elected. Next, visit St. Peter’s Basilica, by far the largest church in Christendom. You will see Michelangelo’s Pieta, sculpted when he was just 24, as well as Bernini’s seven-story bronze canopy located above the main altar. Enjoy some free time for lunch, and then visit the Coliseum, reliving the brutal entertainment of the gladiators and the lions, refereed by the Emperor himself. Your afternoon and evening are free to explore Rome at your own pace. (B)

DAY 8 ROME / MONTEPULCIANO / SAN MARINO: After breakfast, depart from Rome and begin your journey towards San Marino. Pause in Montepulciano to visit Fattoria della Talosa for a tour of the winery, followed by a wine tasting and light lunch. Afterwards, continue to the San Marino area for dinner and overnight. DAY 9 SAN MARINO / TUSCANY: Enjoy breakfast. This morning begins with a visit to the Museum of Curiosity in San Marino. The museum features a unique collection of incredible facts, object, news and personalities which are very unusual, strange, rare, and amusing. Afterwards, enjoy some free time in San Marino before departing and making your way towards Figline Valdarno, and your hotel, Villa Casagrande, a spectacular 15th century villa. Enjoy some free time to rest. Later this evening, enjoy dinner with drinks in the Villa. (B/D)

DAY 10 FLORENCE: Early breakfast in your hotel. Afterwards, meet with your driver and depart by coach to Florence, the fountainhead of the Renaissance city of Dante, Boccaccio, Bottecelli and Da Vinci! Your walking sightseeing includes majestic Duomo built in 1296, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery with its renowned “Gates of Paradise” doors. You follow the medieval streets to the most striking square in Florence, Piazza della Signoria, home of Santa Croce Church, and Michelangelo’s final resting place. You will also admire the many painting masterpieces inside Uffizi Gallery. Afterwards, enjoy your afternoon at leisure to explore Florence on your own or for shopping! Later this afternoon, meet with your driver and coach and return to the Villa for dinner and overnight. (B/D)

DAY 11 TUSCANY / PISA / MONTEROSSO AL MARE: After breakfast, depart from Tuscany and make your way towards Monterosso al Mare, one of the five villages in Cinque Terre. Stop in Pisa, the city known worldwide for its Leaning Tower and for its architectonic masterpieces. Enjoy the famous Miracles Square, admire The Leaning Tower (exterior), the Baptistery (exterior) and the Cathedral (exterior) and other beautiful monuments. On to Monterosso al Mare where your evening is free. (B)

DAY 12 CINQUE TERRE: After breakfast, depart on an unforgettable day dedicated to the discovery of one of the most amazing and enchanting landscape in the World. You will travel though the little villages by train and boat (weather permitting). The five villages, “Cinque Terre” is an area suspended between sea and land, hanging from sheer cliffs surrounded by hills and vineyards. You will enter a little piece of heaven. This spectacular coastline was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and it is one of the best preserved natural and semi-natural parts of the Mediterranean. This evening return to Monterosso al Mare for overnight and dinner. (B/D)

DAY 13 MONTEROSSO AL MARE / LUCCA / ROME: After breakfast, depart for Rome. Stop in Lucca where you will enjoy some free time. Surrounded by well-preserved ramparts, layered with history, alternately quaint and urbane, Lucca is Italy’s most impressive fortress city, encircled by a perfectly intact wall. Romanesque churches seem to be around every corner, as do fun-loving and shady piazzas filled with soccer-playing children. Locals say Lucca is like a cake with a cherry filling in the middle...every slice is equally good. Continue to Rome where your evening is free. (B)

DAY 14 ARRIVEDERCI! Enjoy breakfast in the hotel. Afterwards, transfer to Rome airport for your return flight to the US.(B)
